We hosted our first NCS – National Citizen Service fundraiser in aid of Charity Link, who, each year, help thousands of vulnerable adults and children around Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire who are experiencing hardship.
As part of their programme 14 young team members from NCS came together to help raise money for this great cause. Nadia Fakirbhai, a team member from the NCS programme shares a little about the programme and the incredible work that she and the rest of her team are doing for Charity Link:
“What we do is we spend four weeks away from home. We spend the first week camping, the second week in uni residential areas where we learn to live on our own. The third week, we spend planning for our social action project and the fourth week is where we fundraise for them.
“This week what we plan to do is we had a charity bake sale, a 10 mile walk a sponsored lock-in and a charity meal.
“Chutney Ivy have supported us so much, it’s a well-known restaurant in Leicester, lots of people come here and they’ve done lots of other charity events before and they’ve even thrown in some wicked raffle prizes, like a meal for 4.”
We are delighted to share that we raised £500 for Charity Link.
